Discover the heart of Oushala

My journey began with a lifelong passion for arts and crafts. From dabbling in various mediums to discovering a love for acrylic painting in my early teens, creativity has always been at the core. I love to paint from my imagination, allowing designs to organically come into being. Whether inspired by things I've seen and admired or entirely new visions, each piece is a unique expression. I primarily paint on wood or shells, but have started venturing onto canvas. Originally from Germany, I found my home in New Zealand at a young age and am now based in beautiful Hastings, Hawkes Bay. You can often find me at the Havelock North Handmade Market on the first Saturday of every month, or at the Haumoana Kids Market!

My crafting process at Oushala combines creativity with a thoughtful approach to materials. A significant part of what I do involves using a lot of second-hand fabrics. This not only contributes to sustainability but also allows me to offer my unique, handmade items at more accessible prices. Each stitch and stroke of paint is a labour of love, aiming to create something beautiful and meaningful while being mindful of our resources. I believe in crafting with purpose, delivering quality and charm in every piece.
